United Relief Live wins
accolade at the
MBNA Northwest Football Awards. |
| Not only did United Relief Live raise £180,000 in the summer of 2010, the event picked up an award for Most Innovative (Non Match-day) use of a Football Ground at the 2010 MBNA Northwest Football Awards. |
| Almost 35,000 fans were treated to an amazing music and football extravaganza at Old Trafford on Saturday May 1st in the first ever United Relief event. The first time two of the country’s biggest and best brands in what they do got together, Sport Relief and Manchester United. |
| The Saturdays, Tinchey Stryder, The Hoosiers and the legendary Tony Christie warmed up the crowd in a pre-match concert. The non-football entertainment didn't end there with dance troupe Flawless wowing spectators at half time. |
| Then there was the football with footballing greats such as Ian Rush and Des Walker lining up for The Rivals. But as most of us at Avenue are big United fans, it was more of a thrill seeing the likes of Jaap Stam and Andy Cole back at the Theatre of Dreams. Aside from the ex-pros celebrities such as Ronan Keating, Olly Murs, Max Beesley, Paddy McGuinness, Tim Lovejoy and Jason Manford all lined up in aid of charity. |
